We’re still thinking about that Tell Me Lies cliffhanger and, apparently, so is Emma Roberts. The actress, who is also the executive producer of the book-turned Hulu series, has captivated fans on Tell Me Lies since its debut in 2022. Now, fans are anxiously awaiting the dark plotlines of season 3 — so we gathered all of the twisted, narcissistic tea for you.

Parade exclusively caught up with Roberts in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico at the Secrets Bahia Mita Surf & Spa Resort for an in-person chat, where she revealed what to expect in the next season.

I’m still on the cliffhanger because they’re still writing Season 3, and I’m still on the edge of my seat on how Season 3 is going to end,” she says. The cliffhanger in question refers to character Stephen DeMarco’s (Jackson White) bombshell voice recording that he sent to Bree (Catherine Missal) on her wedding day, revealing her soon-to-be spouse’s cheating past with one of her best friends — AKA the ultimate level of grudge-holding.

Roberts adds, “I love a cliffhanger, not necessarily in life, but I love one on TV. It was just really, I don’t know, giving when I was in my teens and 20s.

Showrunner Meaghan Oppenheimer told Deadline that she “wanted to go deeper into the rest of the ensemble” and had “to write a pretty thorough, serious format that had possibilities for later seasons” when the show was first pitched. So, essentially, the plot is already going much further than the initial book series.

I can say that there will be a lot of twists and turns and some potential new cast members,” Roberts divulges on the upcoming season, which she originally sold with film producer and Belletrist co-founder, Karah Priess. The American Horror Story star jokes, “Well, because Karah and I, when we were selling the show we were like, ‘what relationship have we been in that hasn’t been a thriller?’ So I’m really sorry if you relate to the show, but also I’m glad you feel seen.

The adaptation is just one of Roberts’ and Priess’ many book-related projects, with her book club, Belletrist, recently partnering up with Penguin Random House and Apple Vacations to launch the Pages In Paradise initiative.

For me, I live in fear that I’ve brought the wrong book on vacation with me,” Roberts tells Parade. “There are times where I’ve brought one really thick book…I start reading it, and I’m like ‘I am not in the mood for this. It’s the only thing I brought and there’s no bookstore nearby.” To solve that problem, the campaign brings library spaces to traveling guests with a curated offering of books.

As for which titles are currently on the reading menu, Roberts opts for non-fiction (with the hardcover version of Dianaworld on hand during the interview). In perfect segue, and considering the hyped success of Tell Me Lies, we asked the Scream Queens actress which book adaptation she and Priess have their eyes on to produce next.

We don’t want to give away our ideas,” she laughs.

Without an official release date to go off of, rumors are swirling that Tell Me Lies will hit screens again in 2026. Until then though, we will be impatiently waiting for Robert’s newest production project while writhing in discomfort at Season 2’s shocking finale.
