EXCLUSIVE: Emma Roberts’ Belletrist Productions, which is behind series including Hulu’s Tell Me Lies, has struck a first-look deal with Blink49 Studios.
Belletrist Productions was formed out of the book club that the Scream Queens star founded with Karah Preiss.
It previously had a first-look deal at Hulu, a pact that spawned Tell Me Lies, the Grace Van Patten-fronted series that is set to premiere its third season in January 2026, as well as more recently, HBO Max.
Belletrist also produced First Kill, a supernatural teen series that ran for one season on Netflix in 2022.
Last year, Deadline revealed that Belletrist was developing a series based on Candace Bushnell’s novel One Fifth Avenue with SNL producer Marci Klein.
The pair are also exec producing, alongside Kim Kardashian, Netflix’s Calabasas, a drama series based on the book If You Lived Here You’d Be Famous By Now by Via Bleidner with Bridgerton’s Chris Van Dusen writing and serving as showrunner.
The deal with Blink49 will see the two companies develop and produce scripted television projects based around Belletrist’s literary-focused strategy.
“Karah and I are incredibly excited to partner with Blink49,” said Emma Roberts. “Their commitment to bold storytelling and their appetite for rich, writer-driven material from global books to emerging IP makes them an ideal collaborator as we continue developing stories with a team so aligned with our creative vision.”
“We’re thrilled to partner with Belletrist. Emma and Karah have built a company with a distinctive creative voice and a proven ability to deliver sharp, high-quality stories,” added Pancho Mansfield, President of Global Scripted Television.
