Meaghan Oppenheimer, creator of Hulu’s “Tell Me Lies,” has set up a new series at the streamer: “Second Wife,” which will star Emma Roberts and Tom Ellis. The project will be Roberts and Oppenheimer’s second collaboration, as Roberts also executive produces “Tell Me Lies,” though this marks the first project together for Oppenheimer and Ellis, who are married.
The dark comedy series will follow Sasha (Roberts), who is fresh from a terrible breakup and flees New York to start over in London, where she meets and quickly falls in love with a recently divorced father named Jacob (Ellis). When they impulsively decide to get married, they learn that there’s a lot they don’t know about each other – and they can’t outrun their pasts forever.
Based on Carola Lovering’s 2018 novel of the same name, “Tell Me Lies” premiered on Hulu in September 2022 and was renewed for a second season in November.
Roberts is best known for roles on series including Nickelodeon’s “Unfabulous,” FX’s “American Horror Story” and Fox’s “Scream Queens.” Up next, she’ll appear in the 2024 Marvel film “Madame Webb.” Roberts is repped by CAA, Sweeney Entertainment and Felker Toczek Suddleson.
Oppenheimer showruns “Second Wife” and executive produces alongsde Ellis and Roberts via her Belletrist TV banner.
